Day 11 - North Seymour Island and flight to Guayaquil

Map of area

We had a very early, 6.00am excursion to North Seymour Island which is very near Baltra where the airport is. On our walk we saw Swallow Tail Gulls and their chicks, many sea birds and sea lions and nesting Frigate Birds. I also saw a cattle egret which seemed strange as there are no cattle here.

We then went back to the boat for breakfast and transfer to the airport for our flight to Guayaquil. Again Michael Portillo was on the flight and he was a little way behind us in the check in queue.

We arrived in Guayaquil mid afternoon and went for a walk around the Water Park which is just next to the hotel. There are a lot of iguanas in the park and many are really camouflaged. We then walked along the Malecon which is a riverside park and entertainment centre. It is 3 km long but we only walked about 2 km of it before going back to the hotel where we had dinner.   Neither of these parks were open during our last visit so it was good to see them this time.
